Precautions When Making Ginger Tea

A cup of ginger tea can be a delicious, energizing alternative to a cup of coffee, but the most important thing to keep in mind is to drink it in moderation. For some people, that means drinking no more than one or two cups per day. The daily maximum is considered to be 4 grams of ginger (or less than 2 tablespoons) per day from all sources including food and tea. If you have acid reflux or other conditions or are taking medication, you may need to consume less or avoid it entirely. Although ginger is said to aid digestion, drinking too much of the tea can trigger an upset stomach and loose stools in some people. Avoid drinking ginger tea before bed or at night if you have insomnia or find that it keeps you up.
